Superdiversity is today the reality. Therefore, we urgently need to revise our policies and practice in ECEC, since we are still stuck into the paradigm of homogeneity.
There is an urgent need of high quality ECEC services in Europe, especially when thinking about families and children with vulnerable background. It is through a holistic approach that focuses on a ‘competent system’ that we can promote inclusion. ECEC services are one of the elements.
High quality ECEC services help in breaking the circle of poverty and in promoting inclusion, but there are still many challenges.
The document suggests that curricula should be adapted to meet the needs and cultural perspectives of the communities living in poverty.
