The attractively designed volume contains three stories that fly their readers to Africa. In the Tanzanian folk tale, a father and three sons successfully take up the fight against the evil witch. The second story (The Princess of Szalakóta) is an adaptation of Hungarian and Finnish folk tales, placed in the cultural circle of southern Ghana. A boy sets off to look for a wife, but only finds a beautifully singing little bird who would be happy with his sweetheart. The boy is so touched by the love of the little bird that he, ready to embarrass the people, is ready to marry him. She also wins her reward, as the birdie is actually a beautiful, enchanted princess. The third tale set on the outskirts of the Sahara was written by the author himself about the brave Sasuma, who saves his village from the giant and the devastating sandstorm. Mariann Máray’s lovely, colorful drawings are a perfect match for the exotic atmosphere of reading tales, promising great fun for children aged 4-6. On the CD that accompanies the book, the tales can be enjoyed in a special performance by the author, accompanied by a typical African instrument.
